Monsoon Mayhem

As the seasons change your skin also changes with them. So does the need for its care. Monsoon perhaps is the trickiest season for taking care of the skin. The humidity, the stickiness and the occasional rain turn it into a challenge for women to keep their skin looking its best all the time.
There are a couple of pointers to keep in mind to avoid disasters. 

The face and hair tend to get greasy and limp very easily in monsoons therefore it is important that you give your skin what exactly it needs.















Know your skin type. Dry skin needs to be cleansed and moisturized regularly so as to look youthful and the oily skin of it should be cleaned, scrubbed and toned to avoid the unwanted shimmery shine on the face.

Wash your face 2-3 times daily (not more) with a anti-bacterial face wash as skin infections are most common during monsoons because of the high humidity. Always dab dry the face and do not rub it with a towel. This will make the skin look rough and dry.
Use face packs depending on your skin condition and as far as possible use natural home remedies rather than chemical based products.

Do not rush your cleansing routine. Inadequate cleansing can lead to bacteria build-up and skin break-outs.











Slathering on SPF protection only when the sun is shining is enough. Use a broad-spectrum sun protection moisturiser with SPF 30-50 under make-up all year round to avoid tanning, premature aging and sunburn.

Wearing makeup can be the biggest challenge in monsoon. It is crucial that you choose from among the best of products that do not run down your face at the drop of a drizzle.
Avoid heavy moisturising creams or oily foundations and cream-based colour makeup. Use a light mousse or a matte compact or simply a few drops of calamine lotion as a makeup base.
Hygiene is equally important in maintaining skin's health. Walking in dirty water during rainy season leads to numerous fungal infections which affect toes and nails. Always keep your feet dry and clean and keep your shoes, socks and raincoats dry and clean.

One of the best advices for attaining a healthy and flawless skin is to drink lots of water (at least 8-10 glasses everyday) irrespective of the season and you will see the change in 2-3 months.
